Rottnest Island Christmas Fruit Cake Gin 500ml
Our much-anticipated annual release lands in November every year, ready for the festive season. But where did it all begin?
"When my mother Val left home, she was gifted a copy of the Country Women's Association Cookbook (1953 edition). This much loved book was in frequent use over the years, and even traveled the globe with her and her young family in the 1960’s, supplying our homesick clan with all the Aussie classics: Hovis scones, Lamingtons, Afghans, Anzac biscuits, and my mother’s personal favorite; a rich Christmas fruit cake recipe. Over the summer holidays any leftover fruit cake was often consumed on Rottnest, thanks to its popularity and its incredible shelf life! In fact, such was her passion for this particular recipe, one of her final requests before she passed away was to arrange a chef to bake a large fruit cake to be individually delivered to her friends and family a few weeks after she passed.
So, for me, these two things are forever linked as an enduring memory of my childhood and my beautiful mother. My family and I are delighted to share this New Christmas tradition with you, your family and friends.” - Damian, Owner/Distiller.
